Hi all. Air Malawi have dry leased a 732 for a year painted in full colours. This comes as they have failed to secure the USD 2.6 million needed to service their two own 737's which are currently stored in JNB. The reg of the leased aircraft is 7Q-YKX. Cheers.

Did I dream that I flew in an ATR with them in the 90's? Possibly from Lilongwe to Blantyre after getting off the KLM DC10. I definitely flew with them in something and remember it being a positive experience.

They have one -300 and one-500
As usual when u operate even a Cessna 172, you have to think of maintenance reserve, Plain language... keep money aside or have access to money when your airplane is due for checks (maintenance) and the same goes from C152 to A380
except rockets as they are one time use he he he he
Cheerz :}

Air Malawi has no money. Don’t know how they were able to finance the B737-200 and retrain crews.

They should close it down and restart with private investors. There are allot of good people there working hard to keep Air Malawi alive.

Hope all works outs!!!

Didn't Comair buy them from the Malawian government?

Comair made a proposal to buy it out and privatise it and re-name it comair malawi. This was rejected by the government as the proposal also included the sacking of the majority of the workforce. Air malawi is highly over staffed and inefficient as it is. Currently they have 2 a/c - one 737 for the joburg run and an atr for blantyre, lusaka, harare and dar. Cheers.
