Wannabe Flyer

On a recent flight on CO 99 from EWR to HKG the flight arrived into HKG at 7:20 pm local. On the return trip it departed at 10:30 am Local.
My questions are as follows
1) Is it the same aircraft the following day? If yes is such a long time on the ground efficient?
2) Is it the same crew on the return or is there another crew positioned in HKG.
While in HKG I took a few trips in the region and when I was at the airport a few days later I saw a CO 777 in the hanger all jacked up as if undergoing a routine checkup. Is this normal for CO to do the checkup at HKG or was it an anomaly.
