More wonderful publicity from our favourite newspaper. Can't help thinking that there's probably no smoke without fire though!

cant get worked up about this whatsoever. currency is a nightmare at the best of times, why not use the opportunity to best effect. if that allows a few perks then so be it, lets face it perks are now virtually non existant. what next? ocu trainee seen shopping at BX - stealing potential cash from local shopkeepers? slack news day i guess

I was wondering though........
what exactly is "transatlantic currency"? Wouldnt "overland currency" be a bit more demanding and therefore worthwhile than flying 5000 miles over the oggin?

I was in Alberta last weekend. Better not let the Sun know how we spent our rates in Hooters - Oooerr!

Jockspice - in a helicopter perhaps.

Oceanic is far more challenging...what exactly does one do between position reports - apart from listening our US chums exchanging baseball scores and "ride reports" - BTW why do you never hear brits asking for ride reports???

Anyway, over land or over sea it's all the same to us....hours of intense boredom punctuated by moments of intense tedium. :)

StopStart/FatAlbert (aka: S.F.A ?!):

don't know why we Brits never ask for ride reports - since flying for a Brit carrier and now a US one, I look back at how we just used to "tough it out" in silence in the UK one, and never tell anyone about impending food-missile conditions in the cabin. Astonishing, when I think about it. Okay, so they do overdo it in the US, but it breaks up the monotony oceanic, and the controllers let you know if they're too busy to pass on light turb reports on VHF over the CONUS.

I guess we just like silence so we can concentrate on the Telegraph crossword... :D
