Currently, I fly for an owner on a privately operated jet; number of flights is rather low; besides the flying, I have other functions as well in the owner's company. I feel at ease there, salary is o.k. Been offered a position as FO at a relatively new bizjet company, salary would be WAY lower and heard bad things about the company from people who used to work there. The only advantage over my current job would be more flights and varying destinations (right now, we fly more or less to the same places). Aircraft type is the same, you have to pay for the OPC at the new company...what would you do?

What are the negatives at your current job? Just the flying time you get?
Then talk to your current employer, tell him politely you want the possibility to do some freelance work.
Is the new company is based EDFE/EDDF?

Dead easy this one.......stay exactly where you are........know the temptation for extra flying is there but other than that the whole deal in comparison to what you have now just seems to make the new company option a definite "no-go" !!

Yepp, stay! Or: if you leave, tell us where you used to work so someone from here can get the job. But I personally would stay.

Sounds like you already have the job all of us is looking for, STAY! Grass is looking greener at the other side, chances are it's just a different shade.

Negatives at current job? To be more precise with the number of flights: the owner himself almost doesn't fly at all. He reduced the number of flights due to the economic downturn (owns a big company where I have my other function) and even mentioned that a couple of times. I still do regular flights for the co-owner but if that one drops out too, it would be a clear decision to changing the job. Doing some additional freelance work would be an option (provided that I find something...). However, I have a regular week Mo-Fri since I'm also in the sales department of the owner's company so I'm not sure if they would let me go for other flights.

Stay where you are. When the upturn comes you will fly more again. Until then, anyone leaving a good job for an lesser one - just for more flying... is mad in my opinion.

Stay where you are.
A steady job/income and a little bit of flying is probably as good as it gets at the moment. Being an unemployed pilot, watching your ratings expire and skills getting rusty is hell.

Cecco, youŽll never know if you donŽt ask. COMMUNICATE.
Tell the guys that the job is a-okay with you but you need some more experience etc. Maybe you can trade in regular workdays against the freelance pay etcetc.

I would say "stay" as well but instead I will say "Don't leave" until you have found a better job. Not one where already you have bad vibes with... Patience, specially in the current market.
And when you make your move, it will be a good one, not just one that get you just a bit more flying.

Have you got a family? Wife, girlfriend?
Have them think about it: More work (i.e. flying) for less pay than at the moment. I can see why the extra flying sounds tempting at first...but seriously!
Sit it out, times will change. Look for a new job in the upturn if you want, not when all are down crying.
Plus one for the "stay" vote, here.
