Sadly no surprise here, but today i phoned the AE desk officer to find out the exact date the promotion board had sat/was due to sit. As usual he was unavailable, further fuelling the rumors he has been sacked :) , so I spoke to his PA. She told me that the board had been put back until the 29 April, as in her own words, when they drew up the schedule for promotion boardings for the year AA were 'forgotton about', and as a result we have been tagged on the end of all the other promotion boards.

Now forgive me if im wrong (and I usually am), but hasnt there been a promotion board every year for God knows how long (no blasphemy intended). Now Im not really surprised by this, as after all, we are what most people wipe off the bottom of their shoes (well thats how it feels these days), but this really is one kick in the teeth/cock up toooo far.

Enough is really enough, its time these people sorted themselves out. If any aircrew (and Im including O's here) were that pi55 poor at their job they would be grounded and put out to pasture where they could do no harm. I really am at a loss, and words have failed me that after the riduculous announcement that came 1 month ago, yet again we have been treated like a piece of 5hit

Edited to remove all correct spelling at sauce

Lets be fair it's not like the AA promotion boards are normally held in Feb/Mar, oops they are.

Actions speak louder than words, and this one is coming in loud & clear.

Firstly, forgive a humble "wifey" posting on your hallowed forum. Re Promotion Board, call me cynical, but would they have delayed the Board to check on AA reaction following recent anouncements? Anyone up for promotion and then heard to be making waves might be overlooked?

Following recent events, its nice to be treated so well, isn't it?!

A valid point - Not sure of the legality of that course of action, but then that would open up a whole new can of wriggly worms wouldnt it?

NO NO NO!!

What happens these days is that if you PVR, only THEN do you get promoted!!

The promotion board, (not that it interests this spec aircrew Sgt), is a little late this year as is the re-engagement board (late May)

I guess PMA are finding it hard to fit all their golf in because of the bad weather!!

I see; PVR = promotion? Interesting <brushes the dust of his PVR form>. Mind you, I'm only expendable cannon fodder, easily replaced, so I don't think I'll play that card.

The Gorilla,

Its still not a valid excuse - as I said in my original posting, I was told that they had forgotton about us. Perhaps they were hoping to forget about the re-engagement board as well. Then no one would be signed on, and they could get rid of everyone that way

Strange how you think that a SNCO PVR ing will get promoted - are you sure your not a 'O' as thats obviously what they are doing to retain those once theyve intimated that they are going to leave. That and bunging a load of cash at em anyway

Spelling still checked at sauce

No not an O. There have beeen a number of cases in the Flt Eng world where Sgt's have PVR'd and have soon become FS's, some at the 5 yr point!! They then withdraw the PVR.

The poster has been to my unit and uttered those words to a Sgt threatening to PVR - "What will it take to keep you in!! Do you want promotion?"

I believe that in the Air Eng world they only want to keep people in long enough to:

a) Overcome the immediate manpower crisis(2009). .b) Then make as many non-commissioned Eng's unemployed as is possible.

Note I don't use the word redundant? We have been told that we will be offered jobs as loadies, (Heli crewman??) and if we don't take that choice its goodbye with no legal redress!!

Actually old boy, the heli Crewman job is not a 'loadie' job but open to all brevets. We have had Engs, AEOPs and even Navs doing it in the past. Best thing is we don't even have to make coffee for the front enders!!!

Gorilla.......define Sgt spec aircrew?

Bigley....imagine juggling the following

put up 12x12.......make a coffee, issue rates go to hotel

put up 12x12.......make a coffee, issue rates go to hotel

What would you choose.......I have done both and I choose "crh"

any spelling mistakes are alcohol induced

Don't know about forgetting the Prom Board, but I was told by the DO in Sep 01 that it had been delayed until Apr this year. Can't remember why, but he did have a valid reason.

Bigley a 12 x 12 is the same as a 12 x 24, or a 24 x 24, but only smaller. As if you didn't know.
