Hey, does anyone could give me any good infos, I am an expat pilot trying to find a good medical insurance (including medevac) and also a private (safe) retirment plan. I am new at this, if you are satisfied with what you've got please share it with me. I am 29 years old with a wife and baby, and I want to know what is the best course of action right now !

Thanks :ok:

1)- As far as medical plan is concerned, BUPA (UK) has been doing allright for us, so far. I got it from the times I was flying in S.E. China (as of aug 2006). Our coverage is the "Gold" one (worldwide coverage, except in USA, but you can make diferent arrangements if you are interested in having it there; else most plans include medevac & repatriation), and of course it is better if you can gather a group of fellows to join, as it will make the payments (much) cheaper, by dilluting the cost among participants. Right now I pay US$ 1,641.00 per quarter, for me and my wife. I am 47, she is 33, but she has Diabetes Type 1 (declared, so they can never say it is a preexistent condition). As you are much younger, it should be considerably cheaper, even bearing in mind you guys are 3 at home. I.H.I. (from Denmark; but actually it is a branch of BUPA Group as well) is also widely used by expats, but I do not know much about them. With BUPA you can either choose the specialist, hospital or clinic and later get reimbursed, or - should there be an agreement between BUPA and them - you can obtain a pre-approval, so you don't have to dig inside yr pockets (they settle for you in advance). They answer your queries H24, either via phone, e-mail or via chat online. Paperwork demands a bit of attention (claim forms are downloadable from the website in quite a few languages; mostly I use the one in portuguese, as my permanent residence is in Brazil), but overall we are happy with them.

Anyway, you might want to look at both websites and then take yr own conclusions:

International healthcare plans | Bupa International (http://www.bupa-intl.com/)

Travel insurance and health insurance from ihi Bupa (http://global.ihi.com/)

2)- For retirement plans, I suggest a look at:

Offshore Banking from HSBC International (http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/home)

* Type "retirement" on the "Search" field and it will show you the best options for expats.

Best of Luck, :ok:
