Well, the great man visited the secret Wltshire base today. My impressions of him were not particularly complimentary, I have to say.
Aside from appearing to possess the charisma of a wet fish, he seemed to ignore almost everyone he conversed (!) with after only a few seconds. Does he have the attention span of a retarded Goldfish?
Does anyone have any other impressions of our "Morale Boosting Visit" which they would like to share with the rest of us?

Dismayed is all I can say. Lots of shaking hands and looking through people when they were trying to explain what the problems are, no personal kit, no kit on the aircraft, no kit for E&Eing. All that came out of it was 'That's Nice..'

One of the biggest gripes was 'Great, not like I'm busy enough that I have to spend 45 mins with a bloke who really couldn't a t**s about what I was talking to him about'

The introduction by the Staish was great though...'Walks through door into crewroom with 40 or so aircrew, then says to Buffhoon, "Here are some aircrew" and walks out again without any introduction about why he was here and what he wanted from those present.'...Priceless.

No wonder we have no support from the Ministers if they don't give 2 hoots about what is going on.

And another thing.....

A visit from the Defence Minister ???? It must be true, Lyneham IS closing then.

Sounds like a typical MP to me, only concerned about his salary, and how many directorships he can bag. Doesn't give a flying f@Łk about anyone in the armed forces.

Staish at Lyneham. Know him, worked for him. That kind of intro (or lack of it) is typical of his dry humour. Great judge of character...........thought I was a complete a**e!

I'll get my coat.........

I wouldn't worry about it guys, dear old Buff is like this with EVERYONE. Even my mum. His whole time at MoD has been characterised by a 'can't wait till I get to 'DTI' 'DLGR' etc' attitude. Who knows, Tony may put him out of his misery when Byers gets binned. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">

But surely as an MP and a minister of the Crown he must be one of the brightest and best in our society. After all he spent many years as a college lecturer before being called to lead us.
