Hi,

For months now the Royal Netherlands Airforce has beign dubbing around the question wich A/C should become the sucessor to the F-16MLU.
I just wonder what your opinions are, i think the JSF is nice, but the F-16 is still the sexiest thing around.

Depends on how many cloggy tax payers Guilders you want to blow into an all singing, all dancing FJ!

If JSF goes the way of Eurofighter (a long series, about 12 years worth, of budget overspends),you will have to increase output of export Edam, to pay for it!

Might be worth looking at proven but upgradable frames (F18 E/F, Mig 29M2, SU-30MKM, JAS-39) or stick with what you know-the Block 60 F-16C/G will be around for sometime yet.

Reccommend you play the same game as you did with Apache - lease and let the Septic Tanks and Wastelands spend loads of dosh ironing out D Model problems, before buying!!(Then buy Tiger instead, like the Aussies!!).

Hang on is the answer, there are few players outside of JSF. JCA (new boy), SU-37 Berkut FSW,Mig MFI1.44, all under devlopment. There might be $ and £ taxpayer nosebleeds in the US and UK for the proposed JSF buy, and they will have to hard sell to offset the programme. You might get them cheaper later. But only if you really want "soft and squashy" things in the cockpits.

Wait till your F-16s are falling apart and invest in UCAVs-definitely the way ahead!! No more arguments about the best pilot training system, no more requirement for expensive CSAR, etc, etc. The Dutch beanstealers will be laughing all the way to the Sparkasse!

Reminds me, flew with a Dutch pilot once-his helmet just went over the Stetson and his spurs got caught in the rudder pedals as he was trying to scoop Inverness Dalcross Tower up in the intake!! <img src="eek.gif" border="0">

I had a dutch girlfriend not too long ago. She had this thing for inflatable shoes. Shame, there was an accident in a drawing-pin factory, and she popped her clogs...
