In the past week some ATCO colleagues returned from their annual medicals with CAA Class 3 medical certificates. If I understand correctly, wef 1st September 2009, ATCOs should be issued with European Class 3 medical certificates. I remember similar confusion some years ago when a number of ATCOs were incorrectly issued with JAR medical certificates.
Could any AMEs please comment on their knowledge of this change to ATCO medical certification. Has it been well publicised within their profession, and are the European certificates readily available?
