Has anyone been to Tanga airfield in Tanzania lately. Would like to know about runway surface especially. I believe there is no Jet A1 available.

What aircraft are you flying in on? The runway needs to be resurfaced badly. Its hard to tell if there is turbulence around exactly when you touch down seeing as the "turbulence" seems just as bad on the ground. Having said that though, it is paved and long enough for most GA. There is no fuel there though. The nearest fuel will be in Zanzibar 70nm to the south.

thanks for the info but we were there last week. Runway was a bit bumpy but long enough. However the humidity and the Devilled Chicken :E:Eat the Mkonge Hotel just put the cherry on top of a very brief but pleasant stay in Tanga. We went to Dar for fuel which was on the way home anyway.
