CASA wishes to advise the following Draft Australian Technical Standards Orders have been published and are available on the CASA website for review and comment:
ATSO-C1004a (http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/airworth/atso/draft_atsoc1004a.pdf) - Airborne mode A/C transponder equipment with extended squitter automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast (ADS-B) transmission capability
ATSO-C1005a (http://www.casa.gov.au/wcmswr/_assets/main/airworth/atso/draft_atsoc1005a.pdf) - Airborne Stand-Alone Extended Squitter Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) Transmit Only Equipment

Meaningless technobabble to me. I thought someone llike yourself would be able to put it into laymans terms for us who know what the box does but don't really need to know whats inside it or how it works.:)

yeh, I'm really looking forward to be able to use it from an ATC perspective. It should provide heaps more flexibility for those users transiting through non-radar airspace.
