Question for the SAR types, I'm curious to know how close you can expect to get to the target when homing in on a Sarbe on 121.5? I'm particularly interested in the service Sarbe rather than other ELT types. . .Thanks

Close enough to weed you out from under your stone.

The groundcrew at Chivenor used to hide them inside the hollow plastic snow markers and we used to find them easily. It was more difficult when they put it in the back of a moving landrover but we soon tracked it down, In the Seaking I would guarantee to be able to pick you out of you dinghy at night in thick fog. The most difficult one to find was one posted by a N Sea company which went off in a warehouse near Aberdeen harbour. The signals were bounced off the buildings and confusing but after a few low level passes (what fun) we located the building.. .AP

On a slightly related topic (well sort of!)

Many thanks to the SAR crew from a certain Army Base who kindly flew through the overhead at **********, round about 16.30 today.

I would call it a fly past but we're not allowed flypasts here! :) :)
