I'm sure posts like this have been put forward too many times to you lot, but here goes:

I've been a wannabe pilot for too long and decided to do something about it a while back & get my PPL & apply for the RN (because lets face it - where are you going to get a bigger challenge than flying off a ship for a living). - Theres a family tradition of being at sea, so my reasons for picking the RN have been firmly rooted for a long time.

Anyways, Aptitudes are looming and I was wondering if anyone had any last-minute advice before I head off to Cranwell?

Thanks to everyone who got in contact with me before Cranwell, you'll be glad to know I passed the aptitude & that I'll have the AIB in approx 6wks time. I'm indebted to you for giving up your time and passing on the good advice!

Cheers!

Alastair

Similar kind of thing. I sat mine about 6months ago and narrowly missed pilot but passed observer. Does anyone know of anything that is good for practicing hand, eye, feet co-ordination? Hand-eye I was fine but my feet were just under the required standard.

Thanks, hope your AIB goes well Alastair

Only 3 people on my board got both pilot & observer (which is the their requirement for all pilots now) - In terms of practising for the hand/eye/foot coordination there's little you can do to improve it drastically, however I found that kicking/punching/throwing things at my brother helped me!

When I applied for the flying schol. - ages back I was worried about my feet at the time (I didn't drive, fly or even play football - so all my feet could do was wear socks bascically) - Just got it, now however, since I've started driving & flying I found the feet no bother at all and I passed well within their limits for Pilot.

So all being well I should get the AIB & Fly Navy after uni.

LadyWafu - A Sea King, stab out, works wonders for the co ordination!

Joking aside, something like MS flight sim is good for stick and rudder wagging practice
