Well as I sit and watch the clock tick, I see I have 4 hours and 25 minutes left to serve the Queen..... Sorry to leave? Yes and no... the Air Force I joined 15 years ago certainly has changed... 96,0000 people... down to 50,000 odd... most bases I have been based at no longer RAF but now Army!.... Equipment getting old or the service too stubburn to buy new stuff.. I will not mention the SAR Winchmans helmet or Back protection... Duty of care, eh? Whats that?.

I miss the people and their "Yes it stinks but we can do that", things done resonably quickly, unless you work in Handbrake House, where you are expected to do their job for them.

I have enjoyed my time in the service of the Queen and made some excellent friends and I wish all left behind the best of luck for the future.

Remember the old Addage..."if you can't take a joke......" If you get to the stage of being bitter and twisted its time to leave...

Those who know me are more tha welcome to visit in the land of the Maple leaf..... New start, starts here.

Once again enjoy your time, the grass is not always greener, but a different shade is nice.

Oh and by the way... C Flt, thanks for the leaving present ............................................................ .

Best of luck in the New World. Canada's a great country, as you already know.

BEagle - incorrect method. You're not supposed to drink it through a straw

Nice post DoaR and Bon Voyage from me too - although we've never met. I've been on the other end of your mic and your rope quite a bit and quite a lot of it in that great country you're in.

If I could do it all again... Who knows, I might have stayed in spite of the beer which, as we all know, doesn't do the Canajuns any harm, Eh? Down the first two quickly and you can't tell the difference.

Thank you to all who have posted replies. Very much appreciated.

Beag's.... You are right about the beer (b), guiness is available in cans in the beer store and in lots of the bars.... so I am happy about that.... Oh by the way they have beer bottles suitable for navigators here... Screw top bottles but they would still ask directions to the bottle opener
