Denmark, Finland, Norway, Portugal and Sweden all decided against buying the aircraft last year - read into that what you will!

€150m of an offset deal is not to be sniffed at, even if DoD "ignored" the offer.

EH and probably EC will sue but f*ck em. Times are tough in Irish aviation and election or no election, one of our govts prime useful purposes [and they are few] is to get jobs into this country. Workshare and offset are late entrants to the Irish party, but about time they arrived.

Anything has got to be better than the rubbish that Wastelands are putting out. I say well done to the lads from the Emerald Isle for having the cojones to buy the S92. You never know we might get to see it in service and see if its any good.

Nice move... very expensive, but a very nice aircraft. Sikorsky have it all to play for. Counter attack on Lockheed / Wastelands play for the USCG with the US 101! A foothold in Europe against NH 90 / EH 101 / EC 725. Greece and Belguim are in the market. Who knows, the S92 is still in the running for Canadas SK / Labrador replacement, despite the Scandinavian pull out (Well to NH 90 anyway!). If they buy,you could both meet mid-Atlantic!with ferry tanks of course.

Hope the program goes well for you..good luck

Regardless of type, nationality, cost and politics..someone might just be grateful on some dark, ****ty, foul weather night in the future. SAR boys..worth every penny!

I find the IAC a fascinating subject but can find little in the way of info on them.

Did they ever decide to replace the Fouga Magister?

Fat chance. Probably get some of Helen Clark's used Skyhawks.
