Was flying over the Gulf of Oman last night and heard "Rattler 11" on the air. Any idea what aircraft type? I figured it had a bite... :D

1. You don't Need To Know

2. We Cannot Answer That Question

3. DON'T ASK SUCH A STUPID QUESTION - it may give information to those who could use it against friendly forces.

Assume nothing so obvious. Callsign for T-38 trainer - "Stealth". Yeah, almost laughed my todger off at that one.

Rattler probably refers to how it sounds - maybe it was one of the RAF castoffs!

From the past:

F111 "Teeside this is Spong 43"

Teeside "Aircraft calling Teeside say again callsign"

F111 "Sir, Spong 43, its sponge without the "e"

Eric Everhard,

F-117 units do use T-38's as trainers for proficiency etc, much like a squadron "hack" they are painted black as well, hope this may explain it.

If you were doing anything worth while over there then you should know whose callsign that was!

Dont be sorry.
It may sound punchy but its never really exciting as it ever sounds.
If you are really interested there must be some spotters web sites that you could get the info from.Try: www.ominous-valve.com/callsign.txt (http://www.ominous-valve.com/callsign.txt)
