While so much is being spoken about Jet turbulence , KF - Fall , Rise and Float , Ifly - The snakes and the blue dog and so on ..

Not much is being spoken about Spicejet , does that mean that no news is good news ?!?!

I would like to know if they have recently hired and or are hiring type rated F/O's , if they have recently been upgrading P2s within the company to the left , the differing pay packets amongst F/O's , are they still paying before or on time like they did in the past , the changes brought about by the management change , the increasing flight schedules and new sectors and all that people have to say about them ..

Happy Landings ..

no news is indeed good news..:}

yes sure the Boz run away already to Oman Air like Dhillon and some other just typical Indian style, and a company that easy to get in/out is only Oman Air:confused:

Not sure what to make of the above comment. But here is the latest at SG.
In the last 3-6 months just about everyone with an ATPL and the required hours (2500 min) has been put in the pipeline for command upgrade. We now have quite a few new Indian Capts who have been released, and a few more should be done in a few weeks. I think after the new year, they might be able to upgrade 1 a month at best. This is because after the initial cadre, the hour are lacking for the P2 to meet command requirements. Our youngest Captain is 22 years old.

Hiring has stopped for foreign Capts. After March 2010, some of the FATA's will reach the 3 year mark, and so it is unlcear at this point if they will be renewed. I know of 1 FATA which was not renewed (individual had 3 years plus in India, Spicejet plus another airline). Staffing seems to be adequate at this time. However, if Intl ops start in 2010 then it might not. My best guess is that even if FATA's are renewed, SG will not need expats in 18-24 months.

Pay is still always on time or early.

Nev, What's the status of the 2 and 1/2 Chief Pilots? Is it going to stay that way or will there be an EVP OPS?

We still have 2 Chief Pilots. One of them is an FID (DGCA Inspector) and so he is required to loan his time to the DGCA as well. They also are both examiners and are busy with simulator, line checks, training etc. Now they also have to be in the office. In my humble opinion it's a lot to ask. There has been no appointment of EVP as yet. My best guess is that probably no one will be appointed until after the holiday season here in India, at the earliest.

This is awesome.... the youngest I'd ever seen was this colleague who got his command in Alliance Air at the age of 25, we were still F/O's then and some for quite a while after that as well.

Not sure how "awsome" this is. I mean how much experience/maturity could a 22 year old possibly have? I feel that airlines in India are sacrificing safety by pushing inexperienced pilots into the left seat in order to get rid of the "nasty" expats.

Heard rumors about Spice Jet inducting a few of their Cadet Pilots who were put on hold.
Any Stats on How many were inducted and How many are still in the holding pool ?
They might not induct freshers till they hire all Cadet Pilots.

Silent.

The guy can fly the plane... so technical expertise is evident (not the only parameter... but high on the validity scale)
There are a bunch of early 20's guys in line for their upgrade in the next 3-4 months and almost all are smart... well liked and have a good head on their shoulders.
The ones who aren't will be weeded out. There have been a couple of Senior FOs (40+) who didn't make the grade.. so the system has its checks and balances.
Min age for ALTP in India... 21 like the rest of the world... so no eye popping surprises there.

As of now 40-50 cadets out approx 150 in various stages of training. For now recruitment on hold.

Bracing for incoming.
