From today's Torygraph letters page...

"All true Englishmen will be excited at the news that the French armed forces are on their knees due to lack of money. Now, surely, is the time to invade." Kevin Fiske, Hungerford.

Well there must be better hotels there than Kabul...lets go! :)

Well, given the fact that our armed forces are grossly underfunded, as all the money goes on yet more waste for the health service and pointless tranportation schemes, i don't think it would be any good.

NB. They have bloody good Air Defence unlike us!!

No point they do no harm, they only seem to have ability(militarily) to turn up last ,try & take all the credit ,then ponce around in expensive shades trying to look flash.

What bothers is me is that it's obvious from Mr Fiske's suggestion that it's not just Airships that haver no idea what's happening in the British military today.
Maybe taxpayers should be made more aware of what's not being spent! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

I don't think that invading France is a good idea as I think it is our turn to have the Italians on our side. Shortens the odds somewhat.

The stated aims of all true Englishmen:

1. The declaration of War on France
2. The liberation of Acquitane (SP?)
3. Demand English independance from Scotland and Wales

Oh, for days when the Royal Navy consumed 2/3 GNP. Why stop at France!

What a bad idea it is to invade France. How far would we have to go for our beer runs?

Really there is something quite subtle and pervasive going on across La Manche. Who has heard French spoken in Dordognshire recently? Normandy is already bi-lingual. French schools and universities are pushing English as the second language for all they are worth, and if you want a decent job in France, you better be able to speak English! When the Euro fall flat on its Ar*se, I expect they will be glad to accept real Pounds Sterling! :) :) :)
