According to the news today, Ozzie Hornets are off to help in the fight against terrorism. It was stated in all news services I saw and heard that they were being tasked to 'escort B52 and B1 bombers from Diego garcia'. I'd like to see that! How many tanker plugs would it take to get to Afganistan and back to Diego, and carry combat gas? Some journos are complete idiots.

Excellent flypast for the send off today however.

Yes some Journos are complete idiots!

But be aware! A lot of serving and retired officers feed them some really duff gen, just for a laugh :( I'm not laughing.

Another question.

The US says that there is nothing left of what was the Taliban's airforce so what opposition are they likely to meet at the altitudes B1's and B52's will be flying ?.

I hear they have some very, very sharp slices of Melon that are being used as SAM.

Come on, the RNZAF will have a very potent escort force with the CT4E Airtrainer!! I hear that the USAF are bringing their transit speed back to 150KIAS and are ingressing below 10k'.

The RNZAF is not dead, just very severely handicapped!!

Actaually, this is a cover story.

They are really being sent north to sink boat loads of refugees

Thats a bit harsh Arkroyal. If we could we'd get the boats to go to England where I'm sure you'd be glad to have them come aboard.

Can I assume Ark that you disagree with Australia's right to determine it's own immigration policy, in which case what would you recommend given there are something like 200 million Indonesians in close proximity, many hundreds of thousands of whom would venture south if they thought it was open slather?

Or was that simply an uninformed comment on your part?

Sam and phs,

No. I'm actually quite jealous of Aussies right to set its own immigration policy.

Over here, some idiot dug a tunnel through which over 40,000 IIs have travelled to a country the size of one of your sheep stations with 60,000,000 folk already in it.
