A 500ft cargo vessel enroute to a British port from Mauritius, Was intercepted in international waters .In a combined operation involving the Royal Navy,Customs & Excise & officers from the Anti-Terrorist branch the ship was boarded at 0750 this morning.
The ship which had docked in Djibouti enroute to the UK & was said to be carrying a cargo of sugar may have posed "a threat to national security".
Don't some of bin liners bum chums reside in countries adjacent to Djibouti?(Yemen & Somalia).

...Maybe it's because they will need Pilots to move it
Anyway, it was still there last time I looked out the window, so I hope it's got nothing out of the ordinary on board.

At this festive time let our thoughts go out to the poor sods who now have to search 20,000 tonnes of sugar! On overtime rates, one hopes.

Standto,

If the unholy racket I heard overflying Alton at O-dark-15 that morning, with 2 of the most distinctive aircraft noise signatures in the UK military catalogue, is what I think it was, then there was a very strong aviation connection to the story. Then again, it might just have been another training sortie...

All speculation, naturally. After all, this is a rumour network.

Alton? Let's get the map. Ahh, there it is!

A small device in the local library I think, or perhaps the main shopping street.

The joys of the internet!

No doubt someone told Plod that 'explosives ingredients' were on the ship? Presumably there's another ship full of weedkiller still at large??

JHC - I dont know what you are trying to say about that fine body of abstemious men. But it might have been fortuitous that the ship didnt materialize a couple of days later!

funny you should mention the bleeps - the duty one went off (we were info-ed about your movements - no action required :) ) but the holder couldnt hold himself up let alone provide action.
He was later seen outside a local public house sitting quietly on a bench - obviously having a rest after the excitement of you boys getting scrambled! :)
Thanks for wazzing the house to let me know you boys were back, but I suspect it was someone elses gaff that was getting the "put the kettle on, I will be home in 20" treatment.
