Hey guys,

i recently brought one of these bullet cameras EaGle eye Helmet Camera Video outdoor sports Cam DVR - eBay, Cameras, Security Systems, Electronics. (end time 18-Oct-09 23:50:17 AEDST) (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/EaGle-eye-Helmet-Camera-Video-outdoor-sports-Cam-DVR_W0QQitemZ320413942878QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Security_Equi pment?hash=item4a9a28c45e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) . it comes with a strap to grip it onto your head. Now, i was thinking of a way to mount it too my headset, been thinking of taking it to a gunsmith since they would have a fair amount of practise with mounting optics to guns etc, maybe they could help....

unless someone here has a suggestion?

Thanks guys

You need a ForkMount(tm) from Dr. Forkie!

PS: Looks like you have purchased a re-badged Oregon Scientific AT2K.

I'd have to agree with XXX, Forkmount is the way to go!:ok:

I can only assume Pyro as a generation Y that you haven't gone to bed yet, versus those of us that have to get up at this hour :-)

The ForkMount(tm) consists of duct tape. ForkMount(tm) corporation cannot guarantee the same results for all users of ForkMount(tm). Please check the PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) to see if ForkMount(tm) is right for you.

I once considered Oregan Scientific as a possible cam for aerial footage but 640 x 480 pixels just doesn't cut it. Even cell phones can do a lot better these days.

Hey Doc, is the ForkMount (tm) mounted on the glareshield or on your headset? It'd be good to get a real "pilot's view" mounted on the headset. :ok:

a few tips, dont tape a camera to your headset, untill you play it back, you just wont believe just how much you look around and scan. , the resulting vid not worth anything. unless you look straight ahead the entire flight.

heres a little vid created with a little camera that comes with mounts, external as well, waterproof, shockproof, and under $200 the lot. aparently the mount is good for 120 Kts plus.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fng-lMjoccs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fng-lMjoccs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(im not flying, so dont blame me for anything in it)

and a vid i made on the final days at YHOX. good old fashioned duct tape mount.

ultralights: yeah i do have a suction mount to stick it to a window, i have a HD cam but its a bit bulky when I have people on board, thats why i got the bullet cam cause I can have it on my side without getting in the way at all.

I was thinking about a headset mount for a different view of things

Yup! :ok:

Hey Doc, is the ForkMount (tm) mounted on the glareshield or on your headset?

Yes, that is the glareshield model! A unique feature of the ForkMount (tm) (patent pending) design is the ease with which it can be adapted to a variety of applications, including glareshield, window, windscreen and headset mounting. :E

I got a Tachyoninc camera that came with a IR remote control and a variety of mounts and delivered free - all up it cost about AUD$260.

Tachyon XC Helmet Camera - Enter (http://www.tachyoninc.com/)

I'm in the process of organizing a CAR35 approval so I can mount it under the wing on the tie down point. With good quality replaceable batteries you can record about 3 hrs continuous on the SD card in HQ mode.

well the camera has arrived. tested it out in the car today. Not too bad for a small resolution. Pathetic low light performance. Drove into an underground carpark and it would only pick up the lights on the ceiling. The whole thing when mounted to a windshield suction mount it pretty compact, much easier to work with than the HD camera if i've got pax onboard
