Hi all,

I am aware that as a Naval Bursar or University Cadet Entrant, you have to join a University Royal Naval Unit. However, do you not feel that an individual destined to "Fly Navy" would be putting their time to best use by completing their EFT whilst at uni.

Has there ever been such a case where a Navy sponsored undergraduate has done EFT at University, whether with a UAS or JEFTS?

Comments and info most appreciated.

Many RN guys do UAS, JEFTS is only ever done after IOT for either the RN, RAF or Army (a shorter course). Whether you want to study as you fly is your choice, and that of the UAS you apply to. Hope this helps.

Edited to also apply above full course JEFTS / UAS to booties (Royal Marines!)

Top tip, dont shortcut the system as there are more hoops to jump before geting your hands on an aeroplane! Dartmouth, IOT, Air 427, Dunker! and others. Plus it is more fun that way!!

Good luck anyhow, and if you get a chance join the UAS for some free aviation!

This is not the answer you are looking for. There can be no "jumping the gun". If you realy do not want to join the University Naval Unit you can attend your nearest RNR unit. You may well find This far more useful than playing with a little plastic warship at week ends, with a crew all your own age made up with a 50/50 ratio of males and females.
