A fairly descriptive one. No doubt as to what they are loking for. Probably trying to find someone who wants to remain in GA rather than hour builders......does that answer your question?

It's realistic and not fluffy. Some other operators should try the same once in a while, that way people are not dis-illusioned when they first start there.

'cause no one has ever ended up disillusioned with that operator before

just out of curiosity, what would that position 'theoretically' pay? Given its not just a line pilot role but more operational ('deputy' chief pilot perhaps??), I'd expect a higher salary but thats just me.

just out of curiosity's sake, I'm reading that ad as a managerial role with the occasional flight is required. So, would the operator have to pay on the AFAP award, or since your not employed as a "pilot" they could pay based on just the office duties. So you would expect that they would pay around the $38k mark, BUT they offer free rent on what sounds like a 2 bedroom place, so that could drop down to what, $30k

Could be a good job for someone who is interested in the day to day operations of a charter company, maybe someone who will be looking at starting their own company down the track

I think you would find it pays more than that.

That advert is a whole lot more informative than another one that recently appeared for a Chief Pilot. At least it told applicants which company, where it was located what was involved in the job, if not how much money was on offer.

In this other advert, the salary was vague but certainly indicated that it was for something a bit more than your average C210 operation. But with no minimum qualifications listed, no idea of the type of aircraft, no location. Surely they could remain suitably secretive but still state turboprop, jet, big town, bush town etc.

The recruiters will either be wasting a lot of time on this one or maybe it's some kind of fishing trip?

The pay would be interesting to see. I'll put a weeks wages(not that much:}) that it would be far better than average. If you can do the job.

They say they are a scenic company but require someone with remote area charter experience. And plans of expansion, anyone would think they are trying to get out of the scenic game with the 310 there.

Shocking advertisement. I hope they got advertisements from every pilot and his dog.

Guessing that their website is this, High Altitude Solutions (http://www.highaltitudesolutions.com.au/) (from the email address), it appears that they are a human resources agency.

Await the telephone interview, conducted by 17 year old HR newly-graduated chicky-babe. Something along the lines of:

17 y.o. HR chick: "Mr Mach, why did you apply for this job?"
Mach E: "I need the money"
17 y.o. HR chick: "And what would your salary expectations be?"
Mach E: "I am not a greedy man - enough to keep the ex-wives off my case and some left over for occasional recreational drug usage would do it"
17 y.o. HR chick: "Mr Mach, tell us why you would be the best person for this job"
Mach E: "Cos I am the greatest"
17 y.o. HR chick: "What would you describe as your greatest strengths?"
Mach E: Most everything - have you got all night?"
17 y.o. HR chick: "And what would you describe as your greatest weaknesses?"
Mach E: Blondes and the bottle, not necessarily in that order"
17 y.o. HR chick: "And if you do get the job, where do you see yourself in 5 years time?"
Mach E: "As far away from aeroplanes as I can get, on the deck of my boat, half way through a bottle of good red and you in my arms, babe - by the way, can you cook?"

Some operators really believe that they can screen out unsuitable candidates by paying recruiting agencies to ask these inane questions. Does it cut the other way? Do good candidates sometimes decide during or after an interview that insults their intelligence not to proceed with their application?
