Hi all,

Just wondering what an 'SMP Check' is? Apparently before starting some jobs, this check is mandatory. Can people enlighten me as to what this stands for? I'm assuming it's some sort of check ride?

Many thanks

I could hazard a guess to think you mean S and P (Standard and Proficiency), but you're right about the check part! Have fun!

think you mean S and P (Standard and Proficiency),

Spot on.
Company requirements are that you operate to the company ops manual and to a minimum standard of proficiency. (ie you can actually fly an aircraft.)
Think airmanship here....(including things like not braking under power and sucking every loose stone through the prop with excessive rpms is a good start). For instructing it means checking you are teaching the way the CFI wants things taught.

Just ensure it is not a Sucker Must Pay check.
