At a guess it's probably leased from an Irish company. I believe Alitalia fly some Irish registered aircraft and probably more airlines..?

BBC is reporting (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8247472.stm) all pax were released after landing, then police stormed the plane and arrested the hijackers. They think the hijackers were looking for asylum in Mexico, and now they're in Mexico, so ...

On the news they said the hijackers breached the cockpit!!!! NOT GOOD!

The flight originated in Cancun. It was scheduled to go to Mexico City.

They hijacked it to Mexico City.

I know that Darwin is at work somewhere here.

The cockpit was not breached, the plane flew to its destination where a welcoming commitee was waiting for them. Last reports state no weapons or exposives were found??

Bolivian man acted alone in Mexico hijacking, official says

MEXICO CITY (CNN) -- A 44-year-old Bolivian drug addict and alcoholic who describes himself as a church minister was the sole person responsible for the brief hijacking Wednesday of a commercial jetliner, a Mexican official said.

The suspect, Josmar Flores Pereira, told authorities he hijacked the Boeing 737 jet because the date -- September 9, 2009, or 9/9/9, and 666 reversed -- held some significance for him, said Genaro Garcia Luna, the secretary for public safety.

"He said that because of that divine reference, he wanted to alert Mexico City of an earthquake," Garcia told reporters.

Flanked by two police officers, the suspect -- wearing a white shirt and blue jeans -- was then paraded in front of the news media. Chewing gum, he smiled.

"Christ is coming soon," he told reporters before being escorted off. He said that he had attached colored lights to a can and that there had been no bomb...

i think some airlines choose to register their planes in Ireland because the taxes are a lot lower ...

Hi,

I believe that Aeromexico is owned by the Mexican Government, I do know however that the Ryan family have a large share in acompany called VIVA AEROBUS along with a Mexican billionare who apparently owns most of the bus companies in Mexico. Viva Aerobus is based out of Monterey Mexico.:ok:
