There are a few jobs out there advertising for JCAB qualified pilots. I have all the requirements besides the Japanese ATPL and license.

Is it possible to self study and sit exams to get this qualification without being employed first.

So is it possible to get the Japan ATPL on your own?

Anyone tried? Any Japanese flying schools offering English ATPL course?

Any help or advice appreciated.:ok:

I believe that most of those jobs posted are targeting the JALways guys who already have the JCAB license. Is it possible to do it yourself? I guess anything is possible, but I would very very highly doubt it. You have to have a middle man (company) take care of everything for you and I could not even imagine where to begin. Maybe a flight club or school of some kind but there are not very many in Japan. You could try to contact the JCAB but I would imagine finding someone there that speaks English well enough to understand what you are trying to do would be next to impossible. My suggestion would be to seek out a club of some kind or the Japanese AOPA ( AOPA,AOPA,AOPA-JAPAN,AOPA-J,小型航空機,小型飛行機,自家用飛行機,GA,GA,GENERAL AVIATION (http://www.aopa.jp) ) but I would not get my hopes up on this one if I were you but good luck if you do decide to pursue it. I would be interested to hear back to see what you find out.
