Russia Today have a video report in English here.

YouTube - Belarus Su-27 crashes in Poland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDxaRPHPSsc)

They claim a birdstrike to "the engine", but SU-27's have two engines.

As a further example of the state of the media these days, Press TV report in their headline a collision of two jets and then go on to copy the bird strike report.

Belarusian jets collide, pilots dead (http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=104857&sectionid=351020606)

That was just a few minutes ago too.

This Polish YouTube user has some HD video of the aircraft taxiing past and then some of the flight. Possibly useful to the investigation as it shows agood visual of the aircraft just before flight?

I have just returned from the airshow in Radom and saw first hand the accident. I feel sick, sad, upset and angry.

RIP guys, fly with the eagles, and thank you for the show.

I find it hard to see how they did not have time to access the situation and eject.

Series of high-G maneuvers....
Co-pilot blacked out first, followed by the pilot thereafter?

In the final pass, there is perhaps a four second period where control could have been accessed to have been lost and an eject decision made.

Even then, it would require both pilots to blackout.
A bird strike at just the wrong moment is equally remote.

No not your imagination, there appears to be a shock wave and possibly a small object?

In the video linked in post 7, he keeps cycling the airbrake, wonder why?

Grob, why angry?

Well spotted 'Two One Four'

I just wonder if it was the cockpit canopy being ejected ?

Problem with ejector seats ?

Gainsey,
Have you ever seen a fatal aircraft accident at an airshow? I dont know about you, but I felt just about every emotion yesterday.
I'm paticularly sad that these guys lost their lives at an airshow. An event held with the sole purpose of entertaining the public...

The Su27 has a single canopy so i dont think it's that we can see... What is interesting is that it's only seen in that one video. In all the others I've seen so far, there is no sign of anything else falling off.

Either way, it's a tragedy.

Gainsey,
Have you ever seen a fatal aircraft accident at an airshow?

Unfortunately, yes. And others not at airshows. Lots of mixed emotions but I don't remember feeling angry, but I suppose we all react differently.

As to the vid, it only seems to be in that one, perhaps a lens fault?

Often seen at Air Shows by taxiing jets. Usually done as a 'wave' to the punters or for the photographers to get a different shot.

I hate specualting, but at 18 secs (keep hitting the pause button) you can definately see two small objects that appear to detach from the aircraft. I have absolutely no idea what they are or what they could be even, but there looks to be somethinhg.

Too small for the (single) canopy though I would suggest.

Grob, you were no different to thousands of others yesterday at being angry and upset. Anger is a normal reaction in these circumstances, so don't worry about it. You're just normal!

"Initial findings suggest that a bird entered the plane’s engine, which was on demonstration maneuvers at the Radom air show, Sunday lunchtime. After initially informing that they would eject, the two pilots – named as Col. Alexander Morfintsky and Col. Alexander Zhuravlevich – realised that they were too close to the audience and homes that surrounded the airfield and tried to steer the fighter jet to a safer area".

It is just a glitch on the video at the 18 second point. View it again, but this time watch the tail of the C-130 (Bottom left of the frame).

Grob Driver.
Someone said to me the other day that in all the airshows they had been to, they had never seen a crash. My reply was that I hoped they went through the whole of their airshow career without seeing one.
It got to the stage at one point where disaster seemed to follow me.11 so far, I hope always hope the last one remains the last, but.......
I know how you feel.
