5/9/09 fly past at BHX has been reported on other sites, expected at
around 15.40 but all subject to change no doubt.

Just the two 380's at BHX in the next few weeks then :).

I wonder if the A380 will do a flypast at Newcastle Airport?

I know this sounds pretty unexpected, but strong rumours that the A380 will make an appearance at the Northern Ireland Airshow at Portrush on 5th Sept.

Portrush Airshow 2009 (http://www.niaviation.co.uk/uk-ireland-airshows-and-events/portrush-airshow-2009/125/)

Would be a real coup for Northern Ireland...

As for BHX, Emirates are doing a return flight that day to there, so you can get flights on it as well :)

Filton having a fly through?

tommy,

According to the Bristol Evening newspaper the A380 will land at Filton at 1615 on Saturday afternoon (5th) after its tour of UK airports.

It will remain on the ground before departing for Toulouse at midday on Sunday 6th September.

A380s have been popular amongst the general public on previous visits to Filton so a small crowd might gather to watch this one come in now that it has been given local press publicity.

As it won't be landing at the other airports, or as it appears from comments elsewhere, can't land due to combinations of runway strength limitations, taxiways too narrow and nowhere to park up , other than publicity what exactly is the point of burning all that fuel to go up & down the UK?

Folks, when they say "flyby" is that exactly what it is? One lowlevel flyby and bye bye?
Considering driving up from Dublin to have a look, Portrush would be a bit of a stretch, but could defo do Belfast.
Is it worth my while?

fantastic photo! Seen a similar view approaching BHD - so exciting! It was amazing the amount of people who turned out to see it in Belfast! I wasn't the only one there with my anorak! :O

Around 1630 today the A380 passed almost overhead my house on the south eastern edge of Bristol.

It then seemed to line up on to the approach path for BRS - the airport is about seven miles away.

Although I've previously seen a 380 on the ground at Filton and from a distance seen a 380 doing a fly past over the city of Bristol in the past, the aircraft today seemed so low one almost thought one could reach up and touch it.

Of course it wasn't that low but its size gave out an illusion.

I don't know whether it continued on approach for BRS to do a fly past the airport because it disappeared from my sight behind houses and trees. Just behind it was a KLM F 70, a Ryanair 738 and an easyJet 319, appropriately inbound to BRS from Toulouse.

Local press publicity reported the 380 as due to land at Filton after its UK tour before leaving for Toulouse tomorrow.

Its last tour visit was overhead BHX prior to arriving at Filton and there was no suggestion in the media that it would go near BRS which is to the south of the city with Filton on the northern edge.

I could savour the moment if some of the BRS anti expansionists who live in the villages under the flight path looked up and saw this giant passing overhead in the middle of a landing queue apparently (to them) bent on landing at BRS, although it was very quiet as my wife, who was also in the garden, remarked to me.

The A380 seemingly made an unplanned low approach and go around at Glasgow after its Prestwick appearance.

That's funny. It seemed to go towards Northern Ireland on my radar. It did however do a go around at Glasgow after it's visit to Edinburgh.

After Prestwick, it did a low approach and go around at Eglinton (EGAE) at 1439 Local and then went VFR for a fly past at the NI Airshow at Portrush. Really Awesome Beast.

...and then onto an approach, go-around, tight right hand circuit, another approach, go-around and straight out at Belfast City...low, slow, and very quiet! Climb out was impressive too...

Saw a full display at Oshkosh, Wisconsin last month. Hugely impressive performance!! A fly-past at a mere 105 knots, very lively handling. The Yanks were seriously won over [at least the one's near me were!!.]

I saw the A380 at Bristol yesterday quite by chance. It's a fairly impressive aircraft, remarkably quiet too.

F-WWOW came down the ILS for 27 then levelled off and flew down the runway at about 50 feet(?). Then climbed away and turned right towards Filton.
