I was looking up at a Ryanair 737 going into Liverpool tonight and got thinking,

How much has the basic cockpit/fuselage in common with the 707 of yesteryear, they certainly look similar from the cockpit back to the wings,

One more question to those in the know, the Ryanair version looks to be a very big version of the 737, how many passengers could each carry in there largest versions.

Nick.

I understand that the basic fuselage of the 737, i.e. nose design and cross-section, is grandfathered directly from the 707. The modern systems, cockpits and engines are a different kettle of fish, of course.

This is a very interesting site regarding the 737 and its history.
