Hi all

I have been bouncing around here for a few months now and have wondered what there is the way of visual charts (ie Visual Terminal Charts etc) available. This may be a stupid question but is there any such beast that I can use when not IFR?

The reason I ask is that often I have been requested to remain clear of the X,Y or Z control zones or airspace and to be honest I have no chart depicting what or where they are and have relied on the local knowledge of other crew members. I have checked AIP and can't find anything and have asked my colleagues at my organisation and I am met with blank stares.

Ideas? Please be gentle.

Have you tried the GCAA, they publish the terminal charts, and the airspace chart.

Or visit the flying club in UAQ, and ask them.

Believe UAQ remains closed at the moment?

Hi turkey,

From Aeronautical Information Circular Number 02 2009. The new chart is available at the GCAA AIS office in Abu Dhabi, located at Sheikh Zayed Centre, Khalifa City A, Al Raha beach road (towards Dubai)

Charts will be sold at AED 75.00 as of 18 June 2009.

Hope this will help.

Be prepared to justify why you want VFR charts when contacting the GCAA.

They usually want to know who you are, and why you want one.
