Hi Guys:
Does anyone know the deal with the Lufthansa car rental in Frankfurt? I understand they give us a discounted crew rate. Is prior booking required? If so, could you pass on the contact details and location at the airport.

I've used the LH car pool and it was really good.

You can't book, just turn up and hope to get a suitable car. There are so many LH staff coming and going you are bound to get something suitable. Especially if you turn up at 0700 whan they open shop. ( or was it 0730 they open? )

You can keep the car as long as you wish, if you want to drive it into other counties that is ok. Just advise them where and they will give you an Insurance letter covering ALL.

Cost includes ALL insurance.

I got an Merc B class for about 27 Euro a day. This included about 250 to 300 km's per day which over the week was more than enough for us. Extra Km's are quite cheap if you need them.

It is in German but you can see the map and the phone number for them. Give them a call.

Don't forget your CX ID, Credit card and Drivers licence. ( standard stuff )

There are buses from the old terminal to the multi story parking garage they are located in ( near gate 21 ) but we couldn't find the bus and walked. It took 15 mins.

Cheers

Did that include all insurances and could you take into any Country including Italy?

The equal standard car at LH would only be about 20 Euro INCLUDING all insurance, for ANY Country use..

Try Insurance4carhire.com to save being ripped off on CDW's if you're planning to do quite a bit of renting.

ahh that's a good tip, thanks.

The insurance basically doubles the cost !!

just checked their website, really good. I just wish I'd known 2 months ago! I rented down under for about 8 days in July, it would have saved me about $240 AUD for those 8 days!! never mind.

Jagman mate I've been looking for this insurance for years. Used to have it on a credit card but they pulled it. Many thanks.

I've also heard good things about the LH car pool. If only more airlines were more proactive in arranging deals like this.

Oh but wait, this would be beneficial to pilots, silly me for considering it...
