I currently live in Switzerland and need to renew my R22 Type licence in the next couple of months (and complete the necessary 3+ hours flight time). Looking at different countries within Europe it seems like UK is now the cheapest place to fly?

R22 Solo costs price per hour (converted to Pounds)
France: 364.64 (Euro - 420)
Switzerland: 319.62 (CHF - 558)
Spain: 238.76 (Euro - 275)
UK: 205.63

R22 Instructor costs price per hour (converted to Pounds)
France: 382.01 (Euro - 440)
Switzerland: 405.54 (CHF - 708)
Spain: 338.60 (Euro - 390)
UK: 282

Is this due to the pound vs Euro/CHF difference at the moment?

Thats expensive!!

Whizzard helicopters are £223ph dual instruction and £215 if you book 10hr block!!

Also solo rates are £165ph or £158 for 10hr block!

Cheapest in the UK? Training Rates : Helicopter charter and flight training. (http://whizzardhelicopters.co.uk/index.php?main_page=page&id=8&chapter=30)

BTW i am no way involved with them, i just saw it in Pilot Where to fly brochure!

I think the price for wizzard is the price without adding on that nasty little VAT.
I hope good old Jerry is doing well.

Thanks for the information on UK prices, so using those prices instead means UK is substantially cheaper than other European locations I mentioned? Just a shame UK does have the same weather :}
