Did I read this correctly??? I am calling on the HKAOA and all of us to nip this in the bud right now! You know this is yet another way to lower and debase our crews. They WILL attempt to crew this outside. Why we never stopped the whole Air Hong Kong thing is beyond me. Ask what the captain's are making over there. NR's statement in his weekly update about this new operation is a decleration of war to me.

Guess we now know where the BCF's that are sitting in the desert are going or maybe some if not all of the 747-8's??? More upgrade opportunities to oustside folks. This is just disgusting!

This was announced when Air China first bought into Cathay a couple of years ago. Rumours are that they will indeed take some of the BCFs in the desert in addition to their own order of new twinjet freighters. It has all gone very quiet the last year or so with the whole process caught in Chinese red-tape and the lack of urgency because of the economy. Was surprised to see it mentionned again though. I had thought it had fallen by the wayside.

Seems really smart for a company to create competition. Maybe it is so that they can complain about yields on the Friday telex.

Actually, they mentioned during the 6mo briefing (or at least in the written report since I didn't go) that they were selling two BCFs. I would imagine that these will be going to this new startup.

I'm pretty sure the -8 will go to CPA since MH has been working on integrating into our fleet for quite a while. I doubt they would through all that work away now.

Either way, I wonder if this has anything to do with that scope change that is included in COS08. I remember that someone mentioned it but I never investigated much since I stayed on COS99.
:hmm:
