Hi all,

Anyone know exactly whats going on with the 2x new A332s due at the end of the year?

A press release from MAY this year:

http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/dyn...009/may09/3914

The Qantas Group operates a total of 22 A330 aircraft. Jetstar operates six A330-200s while Qantas operates six A330-200s and 10 A330-300s. The Qantas Group is expected to take delivery of another two A330s in the next 12 months.

Now JQ have already stated they will be taking delivery of 1x A330 in DEC and then no more until the newly announced 4x leased ones arrive in 2010.

NOW I have heard that JQ will be taking VH-EBK from QF in DEC anyone else heard this?

Will that mean QF will take the 2x new A332s due within the next 12 months?

The 2x new ones are both listed in the production list c/n 1061 & 1094 both say for JQ:

Airbus Productionlist A330 - A340 (http://www.abcdlist.nl/airbus_a340.html)

Anyone know whats going on?

If EBK is to go to GeoffsTart, does it mean B744s back on the domestic routes?

that some of the J* A332 end up doing AKL-Lax by next year. Reason being J* has taken over the NZ domestic routes and QF lost most of their NZ business travellers in one go. As one FFPL pointed out to me Air NZ offered the same points and status to come across. This has alrady affected QF greatly also on the trans tasman and most flights to LAX are empty in J/C.
A clear strategic move by AJ to replace QF with J*.:{

Pure genius...gift the airfcraft to Geoffstart and gift the YIELD passengers to another airline....

I think eventually most of the 330's, 787's and just about all of them for that matter will roll out with silver paint. There may be a couple of red tails left on the major routes. I think anyone driving in the rat who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. JQ will be doing EU and US as well as the Asian market. One paintscheme will grow in number, and one will shrink. It may be unfortunate, but it was a plan put into motion long ago.

Maybe with a twist wateroff.

Once the silver scheme is almost everywhere the fleet will magically become white, after all it is the brand that is the airline.

Or, we could be waiting to see the silver ones painted red & white with an "Operated by J* for Q" decal up their sides.

Crystal ball is a bit foggy tonight.

What's with the "Geoffstart" thinking?

Jetstar is a business name that's all. Like many others. I have an ATPL just like many others. I don't classify some ATPL holders as "Up Themselves" do I? Why do you guys vent such spleen by putting down Jetstar?

And as for "gifting the yield" as QFInsider so delightfully puts it.....do you really really believe that? The "Yield" passengers left long ago. Value seeking passengers are by far the majority, nearly the entirety. Do you really think the entire top tiers of Qantas management are so stupid that they can't figure out the cost per seat vs the revenue per seat?

Probably one of the 200s coming is in International config so will go to mainline while the other goes to Jetstar along with EBK [domestic config so compatible with Jetstar]

Both of the new ones are coming to mainline. One current QF -200 to JQ. Net increase of 1 hull to each. QF A330 to operate Akl-LAX-JFK starting northern summer 2010.

CK, If they are going to do that, Air NZ will be very excited. Qantas has gifted the NZ domestic business pax to them by using Jetstar in competition and now will gift the NZ international business pax to them because businessmen are very savvy wrt aircraft types. They know that A330's are slower and have to fly a longer route to LAX. Air NZ will have almost all the higher yield pax on the AKL-LAX route.

Could an A330-200 in JQ seating configuration do AKL-LAX? JQ seats 38J/265 Tourist, the Qantas A330-200s that were used for AKL-LAX had 36J/199 Tourist. That is a lot of extra bodies in the JQ version. And Qantas is a codeshare partner for AA and BA on the route. Maybe AA does not care what passengers who are riding on their tickets have to sit in, but the passengers may find the ride is a bit less than they were expecting.

The short answer is no. Not with the 8 tonnes of contingency fuel a A330-200 needs to carry on that sector. You could not carry 300 passengers as well unless you were flying the higher gross weight A330.

You guys are missing the point. The reason a QF A330 will be flying that route is to get an international J class configured A330 on to the LAX-JFK run. The -400's flying that route now are not making any money. An A330 might.

Loads in J/C have fallen off dramaticially and by the time the cruise season starts by december (most pax travel Y/C) a 332 will be sufficient:ok:

Thanks!

So QF domestic A332 VH-EBK will go to JQ in DEC, and QF will get the 2x brand new A332s due in the new year.

Will the new ones be Intl or Dom config?

Doesnt make sense for QF to operate just 1 single domestic A332 VH-EBJ?

Capt Kremin's reply makes sense. Flogging a dead horse for the thousandth time, there is a very nice plane made in Seattle, just a bit bigger than an A330, which would carry a far better payload between AKL and LAX, and would also be able to do BNE-LAX as a non stop. Singapore Airlines operates this type with 30J and 255 Tourist. If you wanted it to operate LAX-JFK you would save quite a lot compared with operating the 744 over that sector.

This plane comes in a nice 200ER version, which may be close to out of production, a 200LR which might carry a bit more weight than you want and a 300Er which might be too many seats for some routes. The 200ER seems like the version that a Baby Bear would want.

Jetstar will get EBK OR EBJ (not yet known which)
The 2 new -200s, EBM & EBN, will be for Qantas and delivered in a domestic config.

Thanks for that.

The 2 new -200s, EBM & EBN, will be for Qantas and delivered in a domestic config.

Any idea when they are due?

With the 2x new ones arriving in Domestic config maybe it will free up the current Intl A332s that fly domestic to actually fly International...

Maybeeven replave the last few B763 routes:

SYD-MNL, SYD-HNL maybe PER-NRT??

With the 2x new ones arriving in Domestic config

Ahhhhhhh - that lucky person who pays the business class ticket price and gets that beautiful 3rd seat stuck in between 2 in the centre. 2/3/2 config - nuts. :mad:Please tell me someone with some common sense is not going to allow this very stupid config again? Bueller?

I was a happy person when the 200's got off loaded to Jetstar - I can attest that nothing is worse that stuck in that middle business class seat sitting in between Jaba the Hut and Mrs Jaba the Hut.

Slightly OT so apologies in advance........

That 2-3-2 config as equally as criminal as the 734 "J" seats. Only a fool pays for J and sits in the middle(QF J prices are premium to say the least)

I will admit though that QF's domestic J still far outdoes most major EU and Nth American carriers not to mention lounges and overall product. Maybe Aussies have been too spoilt having had Int config A332/3's on domestic runs?

Middle seats in J........:mad::yuk::*:=:eek::uhoh::sad::(

You get my drift.
Oddy.

QF Dom has not had this config for years since offloading EBA-EBD to JQ Int. EBJ & EBK are configured 2/2/2 the extra space going to a really big aisle on the LHS. Im sure the new ones will be the same. Its actually really spacious.
