Dear Colleagues:
You are invited to submit your abstracts for presentations/workshops for possible inclusion to the 4th International Flight English Aviation English Professional’s Forum to be held in Rome on 26-28 February 2010. The title of this forum will be Where Aviation Meets English. The aim of the forum is to examine and demonstrate techniques for classroom language training and testing in the aviation domain with a special emphasis on listening and speaking skills and rating against the ICAO rubric for Language Proficiency requirements. With new text books and courses mushrooming out, the theme is how to keep aviation operational communications as the main theme in aviation English.
Flight English is a nonprofit association of instructors and examiners of English in an aviation theme dedicated to the improvement of aviation English teaching and testing methods throughout the world. The forum is also enthusiastic to survey and review papers regarding communications from aviation professionals.
With the issuance of standards of English Language Proficiency the world of Aviation English has been affected notably. We are interested in researching and investigating new methods and practices of teaching, testing and rating in this realm. Aviation Language also includes language courses for mechanics and engineers as well as ground staff. Areas of interest for this international meeting include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

• New Methods in the Aviation Language Arena
• Teaching with technologies for on the go students
• Teacher/Tester/Institution accreditation
• Listening and Speaking Technology in and out of the language classroom
• Ethics in Language Testing/Training
• Instructor/Tester Development
• Rating against the ICAO rubric
• Real needs in aviation communications
• Operations and communication
• CRM and communication
• CAA approval in Language Testing and Training
• Keeping costs low in the language classroom
• Teaching large groups/mixed level groups

Please feel free to contact the organizer, Melanie Quillen or PM planeenglish if you have any questions/concerns.
