The DLR (Germany's NASA like aerospace organisation) will open it's huge Cologne facilities at the airport september 20th. Even some Airbus A380 is on the guest list since today. There are plenty of research labs, satellite control facilities and wind tunnels to be seen. And don't forget to bring the kids.
It's on the opposite side from the terminal close to the military apron. Like a 10 minute cab drive.
