That'll be it then, BA hate you, pure and simple. Another conspiracy plot provided by yours truly

It might have been fairly full but probably with low-yield pax.

By discontinuing from LGW BA are no doubt hoping some of these pax will fly from LHR and boost loads there.

Has it stopped or due to stop ? When ?

So no option at all now from Gatwick to JFK or Newark :ugh::ugh:

Are there no other Airlines serving JFK or Newark from Gatwick??

We in the North have been left with all kinds of foreign airlines to fly to the US and very good they are too. No need to flog your way to Heathrow to travel at the convenience of BA.

Gatwick long haul is dead. All that remains is a single daily US Airways, Delta and the BA and Virgin flights they'd rather operate from Heathrow but don't have the slots for.

The US airlines remaining will be gone first chance of another slot at LHR.

Almost certainly yield. A lot of routes have had load factors but lost money.

Prior to the Open Skies agreement BA had an LHR - ORD - IAH rotation. I reckoned that it would be quicker to take the bus from Heathrow to Gatwick and catch the non-stop flight to Houston. Perhaps BA should have charted a coach and drop the ORD - IAH sector. I jest! I suspect that high yield long haul transfer traffic made the economics work.

Completely different market - business class only - 3k+ a ticket.

We heard it was to do with the drop in Premium passengers on the route making it no longer profitable.

Hmm, New EI base at LGW. Any chance they might stick an A330 and run a service from there?

The main reason we're cutting the route is because it doesn't make money. Yes, plenty of passengers in WT, but not in CW. Low yield.

The aircraft (4-class) will be sent to LHR and a 3-class will come to LGW instead, to use on the new routes (Male, Sharm, Punta Cana, Mobay).

LGW long haul is the part of the company that is actually making money at the moment, and is expanding in the leisure market.

It's such a shame the JFK had to be pulled from LGW, but that's the way business works I suppose.

Don't know about EI's plans...

Don't understand. Three times a week to Male ? How will they fill those seats ?

I thought there was a recession going on - or is the Maldives the new Benidorm ?:uhoh::uhoh::uhoh:

Hey PETER47

No offence but it was a LHR-DTW-IAH that was operated on the B767!

It used to be via ORD then they tried via DTW, then it was axed!
