Seems to me that most pilots consider long line ops as airwork but isn't most of it charter if you move something from 1 place to another externally and get paid for it? there's obvious exceptions but!!!!!:hmm:

Maybe it would help if you gave us a clue what country you are referring to?

UK is different to the USA which is different to NZ/Australia, etc etc. You may not get the answer you're after unless you communicate a bit better: better than an 8 year old, anyway ;)

I'm much more interested in the wider veiw and the different rules and regs

Australia has no difference between long line and any other sling work (except flag flying, which is classed as banner towing!). Sling Work (and Banner Towing) is defined as Aerial Work, rules and regs are at CASA Current Regs (http://www.casa.gov.au/scripts/nc.dll?WCMS:STANDARD:261977841:pc=PC_90900) :ok:

The term "airwork" is not a recognised term in the FAA.
