Servisair Contract Loss Rumour

I've heard a rumour (and I must stress this is a RUMOUR) that servisair at EDI may be losing the Ryanair contract. Anyone know anything more?

servisair contract with ryanair is up for renewal here at lpl aswell in a few months! tbh most of us manual checkin agents r hoping gate aviation get the contract! n the codaco trained staff have to stay with ****air!!!

Also a rumour doing the rounds is that servisair will lose Thomsons ro Swissport as a nationwde handling agreement.

Major mistake by Thomson if Swissport at BHX are the nationwide standard, I would think that all the recent press coverage that Swissport STN received that Thomson may reconsider if at all true.:ok:

Ok, so say Ryanair / Thomson chose Swissport as their nationwide handling agent, who would be eligible for the contract at an airport where Swissport do not operate?

Well a contract can be whatever you agree. Unless any of us are party to the detail of the contract then we won’t know. It could however be one of the following options.
OPTION 1~ only the stations the handling agent operates at are contracted and the airline has to find another alternative for the other stations.
OPTION 2 ~ a contract is entered into for “all stations” and where the handler is not present the handler has to contract the services of another handling agent through a sub contract agreement
In my experience option 2 is very rare as there are issues around article 8.5 on the SGHA which covers liability and the airline does not have the same control over the service provided as they are not contracted with the agent delivering the service.

TOM have been handled at NCL for a number of years by Swissport, no problems and contract renewed several times. Servisair lost it when it was Britannia many moons ago! Obviously standards differ greatly from station to station for handling agents?:ugh:

Swissport have no chance of getting hold of Thomson nationally. Thomson regard them as the cowboys of the industry and only gave them a couple of stations in the uk so it would keep servisair on there toes.

Look at LGW its been a total shambles since swissport have been at the helm.

That company is a disgrace and is run by people with no clue as to what ground handling is all about.

They don't seem to have any problems up in NCL, granted only 3 to 4 aircraft based, but the 2 seem to have a good relationship. Having said that Servisair are very quiet these days up north!:mad:

I don't think Thomson would use the LGW operation to keep Servisair on their toes, it is too important. In several internal communications they have referred to it as their "flagship base"

Having said that, role on the day Servisair comes back to look after us at LGW, as previous posters Swissport really don't have a clue.

Have to say I agree with BlueTui...come back Servisair, all is forgiven! A 25 min turnaround at LGW was unlikely before the change to Swissport, now we're lucky if we even see a member of groundstaff by green light, let alone any pax.

Thats how the crew feel mickey, i can assure you that. Nothing like landing at 0100, and not getting any steps until 0230 to make you want to look elswhere. And hey...TOM KNOW what servisair can do now.......they had a little taster of their offloading skills a few weeks ago when s/port had nobody to do it ;-0 Bring on that contract

Something big going on at Servisair BHX at the moment that is being kept quiet (good or bad).

Loads of big managers been in over the past few days, what with the CEO in yesterday, commercial director in the day before!

Wonder what's going on there then? :confused:

Does aviance have a base in BHX.....If so keep an eye on them, there could be a change of uniform coming.....again!!!!!

There is a lot of movement between Aviance and Servisair, the loss making stations are closed or sold, so with Stansted's pax division in free-fall, could be the next amalgamation ,with Servisair pax division being swallowed up by Aviance.
