View Full Version : No new lines, no paragraphs on forums

Hi all, I've searched throught the FAQs and forums for this, but still haven't found it. All my posts so far here on PPRuNe are being 'automatically edited' removing my newlines (enter key), and so my post becomes one single compact line, somewhat harder to read. Is this a security feature for new users? If not, then what could possibly be going on? On this post for instance, I did press enter a few times, but as we'll see, it will end up single-lined. Thanks in advance.

It's most likely something to do with Firefox and Noscript..... <br />
<br />
If you want to keep your current security settings, you need to insert a 'break tag' whenever you want a new line.<br />
<br />
HTML BR Tag - HTML Line Break (http://www.codertools.com/html_guide/html_br.aspx) <br />
<br />
Give it a try like I have shown above, except the <br /> will be invisible, and you will have a line feed in its place.

Cheerio,

I run FF with NS (and ABP) and have no problems with line breaks / carriage returns.

I use the standard forum WYSIWYG editor, not Basic or Enhanced.

Try using the "Return" key rather than the "Enter" key! :rolleyes:

If we're rolling eyes at people, Danny2 may want to tell us whether s/he is using a mainstream product, such as a PC, or a niche product such as a Mac or Sun.

Methinks that Danny2 may be using a Mac, or may be using some hand-held device in a far-flung corner of the world - but with excellent flight crew facilities (bar)! ;)

Yes you got that right, Noscript is doing that.

The weirdest is that, if I allow ibsrv.net, the newlines work, but the wisiwyg edit box background turns gray instead of white, and the font changes too, even though the preview shows the regular one.

Well, at least I know what's all this about now.

Thanks!

Yes, you do need to permit *.ibsrv.net in both NS and ABP - it's got all the code for the pages.

Mine took to doing that "all in one great big ugly paragraph" thing a while ago.

I wish I could remember what I did to fix it, cos I bet it'll do it again soon!
