Does anyone know of any programs supported by iphone for flight planning. Can find versions that are US based, but was hoping someone might know of a predominantly Australian version.
cheers,

I don't know about the iPhone but you should be able to use a commercial product on an Android based phone (the "G phone"). I understand that you can hack the firmware on your iPhone and turn it into something more malleable but that's another forum.

PS I'm not a phone or tech expert, I'm just looking into new phones.

CoPilot - Flight Planning for the iPhone (http://www.ljd-tech.com/copilot/)

Theres a few weight and balance programs around on iTunes, each app specific for the type.

You could look at FlightPlan instead, which will sort out your arms from your moments and give you a CG, but won't plot it for you.

Check out Pilot Wizz Pro. I've tried most of the apps though this is the best IMHO. :ok:

It combines the usual suspects (w&b, general & fuel calcs, conversions) with the ability to create flight plans and track the route with a CDI using the inbuilt GPS of the iPhone. It has most AU GA airports, though you can also define waypoints by long/lat. Obviously it's not going to replace your existing GPS (or charts;)), though adds an interesting capability.

The only area for improvement is the weather support for Australia - which only reports international airports at this point. Hopefully the developer will integrate it with NAIPS at some point.

Check out the pilot wizz site (http://web.me.com/sean.harding/Pilot_Wizz/Home.html) or search for it in the app store.

Recently I've been looking for some good flying apps for my iPhone (Christmas present!) and found some useful stuff on http://www.rightbase.net: navigation calculator, weight and balance, etc.

These tools are free and bypass the Apple store. Simple and straightforward to use. Would recommend.

The site itself also contains some useful sections, like weather charts.
