Hello,
Does anyone know of a clean, decent hotel for the family, just for a night or two in Dubai, on or near the Palm would be great.

Try asiarooms.com, surprisingly, they seem to have the best deals for Dubai. Atlantis is the only hotel on the palm, but is not cheap. The Westin Mina Seyahi is not cheap but is the best value for money IMHO. Le Meridien Mina Seyahi next door is cheaper and is a good family orientated hotel.
Try a short term apartment stay at Jumeirah Living.com , world trade centre. You will be right in town, but they will throw in complementary free passes to the beach at Al Qasar (gorgeous), the Wild Wadi and the Burj Al Arab!
