View Full Version : Help identifying some fast jets that keep flying past?

Over the last few days there have been a lot of low flying aircraft going past my house (low fly zone, not surprising). I don't live far from RAF Leeming so I thought they'd be Tornado F3s or Hawk T1s.

But the rudders (I think they're rudders...) are a bit like the ones on the New F35 II or an F22, one on either side of the exhaust.

But according to the pictures on the RAF website, all the fast jets they use have just one single one in the middle of the aircraft.

Any ideas about what I could be seeing?

Probably F15Cs or Es out of Lakenheath. They're USAF Eagles
and Strike Eagles and are the only UK based fast jets with
twin fins. Hope that's of help.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Seems a fair old distance for them to be coming just for low flying, but hey ho, it must be them.

Cheers.

I think that the F15 may be on route to the ranges at Spadeadam or Otterburn. I believe the Tornado F3s from Leeming used to lie in wait for them coming back and practice mock dog-fights over the North Yorkshire moors.
