What Propellor?

There is no end to the expertise available here, so maybe an almost impossible question might recieve an answer...

The prop blade shown here was found in scrap condition in a junk shop in Bedford. There are no identifying marks whatsoever. The timber was originally covered with canvas or similar material.

The shape of the tip cap is very unusual, as is that angle in the straight parts of the trailing edge at half length. Size wise it is 47 inches as shown, and must have been to 55" - 57" hub to tip, ie 115" or 9' 6" dia or thereabouts.

The only similar one I've seen is a 4 blader from an Fe2B which looks identical, but what might such a prop be doing in Bedford? Possibly an Airship connection from Cardington? If so, it's even more interesting - what machine could have used it? The vendor said he'd had bought several similar pieces as a job lot, but couldn't remember their origin.

So what did it come from? Can we tell if it really was a pusher from the shape?

Not sure if it is off an aircraft?

It doesn't look long enough.

I saw a black prop thing at a carboot sale, But it turned out to be off a boat in the end if memory serves me?

It as you say could even be off an Airship It looks like the kind of part that would be used.

It looks a bit wide to be off an aircraft?

A friend of mine saw a Bristol Britannia prop once, He said it was about 7 foot long!!

Possibly an Airship connection from Cardington? Wasn't the RAF museum workshop at Cardington for many a year, if the prop did come from there, it could be off anything but an airship.
