How many crew are allowing SYD staff to CONSTANTLY ignore the requirement to HARD BLOCK seats for crew rest on the SYD-BKK sector?

At this time of the year, the sector (block to block) is almost always greater than 9hrs30min. If seats are not hard blocked, you are operating illegally.

The Sydney staff will argue black and blue that it's not required. For heaven's sake stand up for your principles (and the legality of the operation and your licence), quote the Cabin Crew manual (crew rest), and tell them you will not operate the flight illegally.

Last couple of nights it's been 9hrs 40 mins FLIGHT TIME...and yet they still refuse to hard block seats if the Capt doesn't insist.

What is it about our own staff that they expect our cabin crew to work a 11 hour plus night sector without even a seat to rest in?

They even refuse to upgrade Y pax to an empty J cabin to free up seats for crew rest.

DON"T OPERATE THIS FLIGHT WITHOUT HARD BLOCKED REST SEATS FOR YOUR CREW!!!!

PS...this occurs on other sectors as well. Stand up for your cabin crew's rights and the legality of the operation.

Good Point

Premium cabins are empty ...let them rest in 1st class....problem sovled:D

Dont argue with sydney ground staff.....if they are not blocking economy seats then in the intrest of saftey..... use the empty 1st class...now that will ensure a happy ending for all concerned in BKK:E

TR:ok:

I totally agree with you TR..they should be able to rest in the premium cabins..but we all know the way things work at EK....do that and you'll be doing a rug dance in someone's office. (especially with the odd crew member still happy to report the capt for breaking the rules)

Best just to stick to the books in this case....you can't get yourself in the shyte if you're following the legal crew rest rules.

If the ground staff refuse to block the seats, ASR it and put the crew in premium.

It's flight safety and the company will dance on someone else's rug if they screw up :ouch:
