NZ Film director Peter Jackson has built--with help a full scale flying replica RFC FE2b According to the latest edition of AEROPLANE. The plane is powerred by an orginal Beardmore engine (obtained from Uruguay) The aircraft has flown and is currently touring the country. A second aircraft is now in production with a second engine having been obtained. More are planned. These will be powered by replica engines reverse engineered from the original.

According to the flight test report I read, the plane is very stable, but also very heavy on the controls. Pilot visiblity ahead is excellent but virtually nil to the rear.

LoadToad,

Thanks for the link. What an amazing site. The FE2B is all very well, but look at the other pages! My favourite is the building an OBERURSEL rotary from scratch using CNC machines. http://is.gd/18c1f Don't miss the video of it running on a test stand.
