Hi has anyone been to RAF Pembrey lately? I was wondering if the gunnery trainer is still there, its a pillbox size domed building that used to be near the main hangars. My Dad trained as an Air Gunner there in 1943.
any info greatly received

I've raced bikes there a few times on what I believe used to be part of the old airfield, but I cannot remember any hangers or domed buildings left to be honest.

It was certainly there in 1948 when 595, later 5 Sqn was in residence. It was the station cycle store. Hope this helps,

And there's still one at Shoreham (airport).

It was certainly still there on Friday!
Try Google earth at N51 42 34.18 W004 18 22.35. It is now a listed Grade 2 building, nothing remains of the interior, it was used to house goats in the past. I think there are about 5 left in the country.

Work on the airfield recently revealed a Pickett-Hamilton fort as well.

Well said BGG - I had an even stronger view on Linedog which decency prevented me posting!
