Hi,

unconfirmed reports: Just heard that a bunch of airplanes were hit by lightning this morning into LHR just around the BIG VOR.

Also heard that there was quite abit of damage on some of the airplanes

Anyone got more info on that??

No -sorry :{

PS Plural of aircraft is "aircraft" no need for an "s" at the end.

I live a couple of miles from LHR, and there certainly was a thunderstorm very close to me at about 05:15 Z this morning. Woke me up, in fact. :ouch:

It is perfectly possible that there were similar storms further east (or the same storm moving east, westerly wind).

No idea if any aircraft were hit by lightning, although it is plausible.

I suppose it already is.

I just wish those of us with degrees in spoken english, clasical latin, or syntax, would not correct those that have english as their third language.

what is the collective nown for a non related group of aeronautical devices of the heavier than air sub species.

ps I can not spell punctuation either.

rant over.

I believe that a BA 747-4 (G-CIVY?) diverted into Stansted after a lightning strike.

However, plural of airplane is airplanes, should be aeroplanes but I'll let it pass.:ok:

Can anyone confirm that 'BA, Virgin, Cathay Pacific and Kenya Airways' all have damaged aircraft as a result of the lightning? If so, is it not unusual that this has not been mentioned elsewhere?
