can anyone briefly explain the following please.on numerous occasions i have seen easys and thomsons etc on turnarounds with either 1 or both engines wizzing round quite fast,would this be shown on the flghtdeck on the eicas?is there any difference between this happening and a a/c next door with the engines totally stopped,been wondering four a while now!many thanks brs planespotter:ok:

What you are seeing is windmilling, thats all. They are not running.

i am guessing windmilling is litterally the wind whipping through and turning the blades?thank u:ok:

Wind will turn the fan, but the motors may still be spinning down, too. Windmilling literally means the wind is rotating the fan, but it's also often used commonly to mean motor spinning without power from the motor itself. The fan section is just a big windmill; it takes very little breeze to move it.
