Excellent!!! Tipping that may be a one way strip. Regardless he should have gone round well before his touch down which was almost at the keys!!!

Ground effect at its finest followed by a pilot who should have gone around.

Hmm. Note to self, don't try landing at the end of the runway.

Interesting video. There are some other skid marks visible on the runway, no doubt from others who made bad decisions, not to mention a high probability of the other type of skid mark that can't be seen.

:O:O

Ouch. Yup a go-around would have been a good idea. Pushing down to make the threshold would have definitely added a fair bit to his speed, contributing significantly to the float IGE and subsequent over-run. Wonder what his speed/energy control was like prior to the push... looked a reasonably flat approach to me, with not much action/anticipation of the speed increase likely due the push.

Shocking decision making :eek: how on earth would anyone even just with basic twin experience think they could stop in that sort of distance? Surely in anything but the lightest of aircraft and the longest of runways, if the wheels aren't down and you're more than half way down the strip you'd automatically go round:ugh::ugh:

Granted the approach is not easy and a typical example of the sloping terrain towards the runway falsely encouraging too steep an approach path, but how it couldn't have been clear to the PIC that he'd be ending up too fast with way too much energy for a safe landing is beyond me :confused:

Horrible site BTW that vimeo cr@p, incredibly slow to load, a performance gobbler even with the HD off, and still only producing a jumpy jittery just plain bad display.. much better here: YouTube - [REAL] Piper Seneca V St. Barthelemy crash! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8yx5T2Oejc)

Might be time to upgrade the computer and/or internet connection mate, it worked fine for me.

Sue, you might have been just lucky, with a dual processor and 2GB of RAM plus a fast ADSL2+ connection I'm usually not short on performance, and from my former life as an IT :8 I am pretty convinced that site's lacking in more than a few ways.. :}

This video looks a tad fake to me. The shaking of the camera looks a bit forced, the guy on the surf ski never misses a beat despite a rather large crash fairly close to him, no cars stop etc.

reminiscent of YouTube - Airplane loses wing!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cz0nes4Lsyk) or YouTube - Dumbo jet " Elephant landing" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxvAQv278dc)

Of course I could be completely wrong too :}

The relatively quick response of the fire truck makes you wonder if there was some sort of emergency??

Good video of what not to do.

Gundog, with an approach like that into a strip that short I think the fireys would be living on the edge all the time and ready to jump...

das Uber Soldat, it's real ..u can see the sand go up in to the air and the pilot/pax coming out of the airplane red faced.

This is how it should have been done.

Well the Twotter may not be able to do everything but it can do that without crashing.

Just goes to show - design an idiot proof aeroplane someone just finds a bigger idiot to put in it.
